NEW Product Idea Survey - Base Station Rotatable Dipole 6M - 160M (1500W SSB)
Carl, Good idea, I would be very interested in a rotable dipole. Here are some additional thoughts:1. It needs to be able to have very low SWR on at least 4 of the major HF bands, such as, 80, 40, 20, and 10, or with changeable traps, 160, 80, 40,…

Grounding opinion
DX Engeering has a good article on RF grounding vs electrical grounding and how to do both. Go to their web page and look it up under radial grounds, etc. Hope this helps.

Nice pics. What is the make/model of your ground plane? What antenna is it from? Thanks, in advance for your reply, 73.

The NEW Capacitance Hat Accessory (CHA CAP-HAT) is NOW available!!
Carl, Can you tell me where you got the article above about I vs E ratios from base and center loading inductors vs. cap hat loading of same 1/4 wave verticals. I would like to read more about what this person has to say. Thanks, ...Joel

1. An electrical ground and a RF ground are usually two different things. A ground rod gives you a pretty good to a great ground depending on the electrical resistance of your soil. Multiple ground routed radials/counterpoise give you a better RF gr…

Hybrid common mode current
In addition to the earth ground and the coax choke I found that if I installed downward hanging (diagonal at ~45degrees) radials tuned to my frequencies of interest plus several (4-6) ground counterpoise I helped tremendously on reducing the common …

Swapped out my HI-Q for a V1L & First Contact…INCREDIBLE!!!
One other comment. Down sloping radials (counterpoise) cut to your frequencies (40, 20, 15,10, etc.) will also help. They need to be angled down at 40 to 45 degrees and not grounded at their far end but connected to the shield at the Hybrid end. …

Your LDG tuner seems to be doing a good job of matching the impedance of your antenna/coax line and your transmitter. However, the only way to tell if you have a RFI problem is to put a SWR meter between your LDG tuner and your coax line going to y…

NEW PRODUCT - CAPACITANCE HAT OR CAP HAT
Carl, If your price for the Cap Hat will be ~$45 to $60, I would like to reserve one to try with my Field Use Antenna. I want to see if it broadens and/or lowers the SWR dips in the V1L/MIL vertical I have. Also, along with the Cap Hat purchase, I…

Hybrid + Mil Whip for maritime mobile
Thomas, I have some concern about mounting the base of the HYBRID to your SS pulpit. The HYBRID seems to work best mounted on a non electrical pole, like fiberglass or wood. That way you can either RF ground the base of the HYBRID or not , whichev…

I have the HYBRID set up as an inverted V, end fed. Overall length is ~72' with the peak of the V being the end of the original 30' wire shipped with the HYBRID. It works great. I initially had it at ~60 feet length and then put a MJF-2…

Jaime, I have found a better sealent than Coax Seal. It is TEMFLEX 2155 Rubber Sealing Tape, a 3M product along with Scotch 33+ Electrical Tape. Put down the TEMFLEX first, overlap & stretch it like Coax Seal, then cover with the 33+. The TEM…
