Select power equipment from the actual station load rather than the radio's advertised peak output alone. Match battery chemistry, nominal voltage, continuous and peak current, connector type, polarity, charger, solar input, protection requirements, and the transmit duty cycle of the intended mode. Digital operation can place a much heavier continuous demand on both the radio system and the battery than casual SSB operation. Plan cable size, fusing, charging time, ventilation, weather protection, and realistic operating duration as part of the complete station. Always use the charger or controller approved for the battery chemistry and configuration.
