"The first day I got them, I put them on my poto antenna kit and they were actually quicker to deploy with great results"
"Deployed this radial system with a center loaded vertical antenna with great results! Deployment was easy and straight forward, especially compared to multiple wire radials which always tangle and get wound up. Easily comparable to a "magic carpet" deployment but it is much easier in windy conditions. I purchased the orange version to improve visibility/safety when working POTA near heavily traveled trails and parks. While not a system that I would carry in a pack to hike in, the stowed radials are fairly compact and lightweight. Quality of the product (fit, finish, performance) are exactly what you would expect from Chameleon - top shelf!"
"I have used CHA FSR - Faraday Strip Radial System at recent POTA activations during the Good Friday, Easter weekend in Bermuda. I use them with a JNCRADIO MC-750 Portable HF Vertical Antenna and an Icom IC-7300 radio. No need for a tuner as I'm able to get the SWRs below 1. 3. 1. They do as some weight to my gear bag but i still give them 5 stars on performance. VP9NR"
"These are well worth the money. Just plain screening or Faraday cloth has a tendency to break down, poke fingers, and blow about in the wind. These store compactly, are weighty enough to stay put well and are heavy duty. And when deployed, they spread out only 12. 5' in each direction from the antenna (vertical). SWR was very low across all the bands for which I used them (40-10m). I made several QSO's from a high spot in the Sierra Nevada Mountains with them including Japan on 18 watts with 5-5 signal reports."
"Faraday strips as good or better than radials. Deploys quickly and is easily stowed."
"Great quality and design. Should work well for a lifetime."
"Love my Faraday straps there are amazing quality i used them out in the cold north dakota winter ❄️ money well spent. i have pictures"
"Everything has value. Yes wire radials are cheaper, but I love the portability and ease of setting up. These deploy substantially quicker then wire radials and seem to work as good! I would highly recommend. I enjoy POTA and these come in clutch for either my "Challenger" style of antenna or just loading up a "Rybakov" style."
"I am very please with this product, it is what I expected from Cameleon. I tired it out yesterday and even with bands being less that normal I could definitely tell there was a difference. I ran WSPR for an hour or so and was being heard just about everywhere in all directions. I use a SS17 with a blank. SWR on 20m was 1. 1 and 1. 5 on 10m with no tuner. 15 meters was over 3 but using my turner there was no issue. Great Product!"
"They are a little heavy for SOTA."

The CHA FSR (Faraday Strip Radial System) is a man-packable, MPAS READY radial and counterpoise system engineered for enhanced efficiency, rugged durability, and portability in the field. Designed for serious operators, the CHA FSR delivers superior performance while remaining compact and easy to transport.
In initial field tests conducted in Northern Alabama, the CHA FSR demonstrated a median increase in relative field strength between 23% and 28% compared to the standard four 12.5 ft. wire radials included with the Basic Vertical (BV) and Portable Resonant Vertical (PRV) antennas. With further testing and refinement, performance efficiency is expected to increase.
The CHA FSR is fully MPAS READY, making it compatible with all Chameleon Antenna vertical antenna systems, including the SS17, SS25, MPAS, MCC, and many others.
The system includes a special stainless steel 3/8-24 coupling adapter, designed for universal mounting. This adapter features a 3/8-24 male thread at the bottom to sandwich the FSR securely on any 3/8-24 mount system, and a 3/8-24 female thread on top to accommodate bases such as the CHA BLANK, CHA HYBRID, and CHA MCC.
At a packaged weight of 5 lbs. and compact dimensions of TWO 6 x 4 inches bundles, the CHA FSR is built for portability. Whether you’re heading into the mountains, the field, or an emergency deployment, this system packs down easily for transport without sacrificing performance.
The CHA FSR is built using a multi-layered composite design that combines advanced electrical performance with rugged field durability.
At its core, each radial strip features a Faraday conductive fabric composed of Copper–Nickel–Polyester fibers woven in a diamond pattern for multidirectional conductivity and mechanical strength.
Technical Fabric Data:
To ensure long-term environmental resistance, the Faraday cloth is encapsulated between two layers of 900D Oxford cloth — the same TAN-colored, abrasion-resistant material used in the CHA Sling Bag. This durable outer shell protects the conductive layers from moisture, UV exposure, and wear, while maintaining the system’s flexibility and packability.
Each strip is equipped with three brass grommets — one at each end and one at the center — providing secure mounting and maintaining electrical continuity across the full length of the strip. The grommets also serve as contact points to ensure balanced current distribution during operation.
The CHA FSR includes a precision-machined stainless steel 3/8-24 coupling adapter (CHA FSR-A), designed to sandwich the system between any 3/8-24 mount and the antenna base. The adapter features a male 3/8-24 thread at the bottom and a female 3/8-24 thread on top, compatible with all Chameleon bases including the CHA BLANK, CHA HYBRID, and CHA MCC.
All assembly and quality control are completed in Nevada, USA, ensuring every unit meets Chameleon Antenna’s high manufacturing standards.
The CHA FSR improves vertical antenna performance by addressing the key limitations of traditional wire radials — limited ground-plane surface area, inconsistent current distribution, and low mechanical resilience in field conditions.
The broad Faraday conductive surface creates a large, low-impedance return path, drastically reducing ground losses and improving the antenna’s radiation efficiency. The diamond weave of the Copper–Nickel fabric promotes uniform current flow in multiple directions, stabilizing the antenna’s omnidirectional radiation pattern and improving signal strength across all azimuths.
Field testing in Northern Alabama revealed a median increase in relative field strength between 23% and 28% compared to standard 4-wire counterpoise kits, with additional efficiency gains expected as ongoing testing continues.
Beyond electrical performance, the CHA FSR introduces significant safety and durability advantages:
These combined electrical and mechanical advantages make the CHA FSR not only a more efficient ground-plane system, but also a safer, more practical solution for portable and semi-permanent installations in public or group settings.
Compact. Lightweight. Powerful. The CHA FSR delivers tested performance improvements, universal compatibility, and rugged portability — making it the ultimate radial solution for today’s portable vertical antenna systems.
You can purchase a CHA DPACK to store and carry the CHA FSR.
