Loop Antennas brings together portable tuned loops, remotely tuned systems, receive loops, full-size loop configurations, and the components used to support or complete them. Loops are valuable when an operator needs a compact footprint, directional response, reduced sensitivity to some local noise sources, or a deployment geometry that differs from conventional vertical and wire antennas.
Compare loop type before comparing accessories. Important differences include transmit or receive purpose, frequency coverage, power and duty cycle, tuning method, loop size, support structure, feed arrangement, directional behavior, setup space, and the need for retuning when frequency changes. A small transmitting loop can develop high RF voltage and current even at modest power, so clearance and the manufacturer's limits are essential. Full-size loops have different support and feed requirements. Choose from a documented configuration and verify the match at low power before transmitting normally.
