COUNTERPOISE & RADIAL SYSTEMS

Field selection guide

Choose from Counterpoise & Radial Systems

Counterpoise & Radial Systems contains the conductors and supporting components used to complete the return path in documented unbalanced antenna configurations. Properly selected and deployed radials or counterpoise wires can be an essential part of a portable vertical, end-fed, or other system whose current path depends on them.

Choose the arrangement specified for the complete antenna rather than adding wire by habit. Confirm the number and length of conductors, connection point, elevated or ground-laid deployment, available footprint, operating bands, tuner requirements, and interaction with the feed line. More wire is not automatically better when it changes the intended configuration or creates a safety and trip hazard. Balanced dipole configurations do not receive radial or counterpoise accessories simply because those products are available. Follow the current antenna guide, keep conductors clear of people and equipment, and verify the completed system at low power before normal operation.
