Paradan Radio DC Gate 40+ · Power

A battery, charger, controller, solar panel, filter, or station-power component.

Why operators make room for it

Give the radio quiet, deliberate power away from the grid

Away from the grid, every amp-hour, connector, charging source, and transmit duty cycle becomes part of the station design.

That is where Paradan Radio DC Gate 40+ enters the kit. This is a 13.8 volt battery back-up system for powering your radio station, “go box”, or RV. It can output up to 40 amperes from either the power supply or the battery. The radio, or other equipment connects to the or-gate output. One input comes from the power supply, the other input is connected to a 12 volt battery. The higher voltage of the power supply passes through to the output.

For the operator, the goal is quiet and predictable endurance: enough correctly managed energy for the real radio load, with polarity, current, chemistry, charging, and protection handled deliberately.

Best for

Away from the grid, every amp-hour, connector, charging source, and transmit duty cycle becomes part of the station design.

What else you need

Match chemistry, voltage, current, connector, and charging source

What an operator can do

  • Match battery chemistry, voltage, current capacity, connectors, charger, and controller to the station load.
  • Protect every circuit with the specified polarity, fuse, cable size, ventilation, and charging limits.
  • Estimate operating time from the actual transmit duty cycle rather than a maximum nameplate figure alone.

Complete product details

This is a 13.8 volt battery back-up system for powering your radio station, “go box”, or RV.  It can output up to 40 amperes from either the power supply or the battery.  The radio, or other equipment connects to the or-gate output.  One input comes from the power supply, the other input is connected to a 12 volt battery.  The higher voltage of the power supply passes through to the output.  But when ac power is lost and the power supply goes dead, the gate switches to the battery, instantaneously.  When the power comes back on again, the gate switches back to the power supply, and the built in 2 ampere constant current charger rapidly restores the battery to full charge.  Ideal for use with Bioenno Lithium-Ferrous-Phosphate batteries as well as sealed lead-acid batteries.  The DC 40+ is solidly made on a heatsink and connections are Powerpoles.

Specifications:

  • Power Supply Voltage:  13.8 - 14.2  volts for Lead Acid Batteries, “12volt” GEL, or AGM type, any amp-hour rating 14 -14.8 volts for Bioenno Lithium-Iron-Phosphate Batteries
  • Current:  40 amperes maximum
  • Connectors:  Anderson Powerpoles
  • Diodes:  Two 80 Amp Schottky, IRF 80CPQ030
  • Diode Drop:  0.3 volts @10 Amps
  • Charger Output:  2 Amperes constant until near full charge
