HF end-fed broadband wire antenna

A simple, rugged way to put a useful broadband HF wire in the air without starting with a complicated antenna system.

Built for a real operating goal

Choose the wire length that fits your property, pack, and operating goals

CHA BASIC Limited Edition gives new and experienced operators a straightforward end-fed HF antenna that can move from the backyard to a field station without changing the basic deployment method.

Choose 30 feet when space and pack size come first, 60 feet for a versatile portable or restricted-property installation, or 130 feet when lower-band reach and a larger site matter. Raise it as a sloper, horizontal wire, inverted V, inverted L, or low horizontal NVIS antenna, add the guide-defined RF return, and use a suitable wide-range tuner.

Included equipment and documented configurations

Included

  • Matching transformer
  • Selected antenna wire
  • Isolation ring, carabiner, line winder, and transformer eyebolt

Documented configurations

  • End-fed sloper
  • Horizontal end-fed wire
  • Inverted-V
  • Inverted-L
  • Low horizontal NVIS deployment

Configuration boundary: Use a 25–50 ft counterpoise when practical. If none is installed, use 25–50 ft of coax so the shield provides the guide-defined return path. Verify the installed antenna before transmitting.

Cha Basic Limited 130

"Functional but underperforming compared to my Encomm3. The antenna works fine and operates as expected, but I have noticed that I am not reaching the same distances as I do with my Encom3. It is a decent product for the price point, but I was hoping for better range performance."

— Brian W. (5/5)

Great EFHW

"Love this EFHW antenna need something that wasn’t as long as the 130+ and would still do the job and all the bands so I went with the 60. It’s up about 25 feet in the sloper configuration and I’ve worked the world with it."

— Debra S. (5/5)

Great end fed antenna

"Looks great, have it ready to utilize when out in the field."

— Thomas J. (5/5)

"So far so good!!!! Easy to install. Takes up a while lot less space!!!!"

— KJ5RT (5/5)

CHA Basic

"Very easily deployed. Seems to be well made. My G90 is able to tune up all the bands while using this wire. The CHA Basic should fit my needs for a rapidly deployed NVIS antenna"

— Bil D. (5/5)

GOOD ANTENNA

"SETUP WAS SIMPLE AND FAST. TUNED WELL FROM 10M TO 40M WITH RADIAL ADJUSTMENTS (MORE LESS AND LENGTH)"

— BRUCE B. (5/5)

Just what my backyard needed…

"Excellent antenna. Blemished somewhere but functions perfectly."

— Lawrence K. (5/5)

Versatile Antenna, Chameleon Quality

"This antenna so versatile in deployment options, Built with quality components and well though out features that you can expect and get only from Chameleon Antennas."

— Jwahar B. (5/5)

Up quickly in an Inverted

"Up quickly in an Inverted L configuration that fit my yard space. SWR as advertised and quickly hopping between bands working the DX SSB contest!"

— Kevin K. (5/5)
