Introduction to the CHA LD-3

The CHA LD-3 is a lightweight, high-performance linked dipole antenna system designed for HF operators who demand portability without compromising capability. Specifically engineered for the 40, 30, and 20 meter amateur bands, this limited-edition antenna is ideal for Parks on the Air (POTA), Summits on the Air (SOTA), and field expeditions where reliable communication and quick setup are essential. Weighing just 12.2 oz, the CHA LD-3 is built to complement compact QRP transceivers like the Icom IC-705, Xiegu G90 or X6100, LAB599 TX500, and Yaesu FT-X1.

Product Description

The CHA LD-3 is a linked dipole antenna that delivers tuner-free operation on 40M, 30M, and 20M. Band selection is accomplished via rugged alligator clip links, with each band segment color-coded for quick identification (Yellow for 40M, Orange for 30M, Blue for 20M). The system includes a 1:1 BALUN, carabiners for suspension, a single heavy-duty line winder, and a compact carry pouch. A 25 ft. RG-316 coaxial cable with an integrated RFI choke is available as an optional accessory.

Designed for extreme portability, the CHA LD-3 can be deployed as an Inverted “V” or as a horizontal dipole, supporting both NVIS and long-distance (DX) communication depending on configuration and band. Setup can be completed in under 15 minutes by one operator using minimal support structures such as trees or telescoping masts.

The versatility of the CHA LD-3 hub extends even further:

• Combine it with the CHA WARC-D to operate on 30M, 17M, and 12M.
• Pair it with the CHA LINK-D15 to add 40M, 20M, and 15M capabilities.

These options allow operators to mix and match band-specific wire sets using the same LD-3 center hub, creating a flexible, modular multi-band dipole system suited for nearly any HF operating scenario.
