Multi Band Magic Solution

"Added two more bands to my POTA Challenger simply by replacing my 4:1 unum with this 5:1 hybrid. Well constructed. I’d recommend staying with the micro for a delta loop: the mini is large and a bit heavy unless you need it to handle the extra power."

Wow!

"I got the TDL mostly for Pota, and I have very small yard. I thought I would try it out in my side strip of yard, and I’ve been able to make contacts all over the southwest United States. I can’t wait to use it for Pota activations. The SWR on most bands is 1:5 ish."

Chameleon CHA Hybrid-Mini

"This is my second CHA Hybrid-Mini. The construction is solid. The product works as advertised. I recommend Chameleon products."

Gary L. (5/5)

MPAS is fun

"Has worked over and over again in a park field. That's what it's supposed to do. No time to go to the park. Mini+SS17 definitely too close to fence. SWR is trash on 20 but it's okay on 17. Maybe a bit more length will bring it into tune. . . grab the SS25. The dip is in 20 and 17 is <2. 0. Fire it up, SSB 100W and grab a POTA on 20 and Barbados from Texas on 17. Love the flexibility."

My second Hybrid Mini

"Two is one and one is none. My original Hybrid Mini has been deployed as a sloper for 5 years now without fail. Purchased a 2nd one for a backup."

Great Expansion for my MPAS 2. 0

"This was a great expansion for my MPAS 2. 0 kit, especially working higher volumes of FT8. It’s substantially larger than my micro and really great for the backyard or car side deployments. The proof is on the pudding, using my expanded MPAS 2. 0 kit (added this, a DIY redial kit, and the limited edition MIL-Whip), I made FT8 contacts on 10m - 80m, running about 50W on the inaugural outing. That includes contacts in Poland, Italy, Germany, Japan, Fiji, and a slew of US stations. I spent just enough time on 40/80m to prove it works and could tune up. The setup really shines 20m and higher where I really had a lot of fun. I am really looking forward to trying more efficient antenna configurations. My micro is going anywhere, but the beefy mini does make a lot of FT8 fun."

Tyler N. (5/5)

Great product

"The unit works great. I paired it with the SS25 on a low tripod, a faraday cloth and 25 foot coax. I was able to get SWR below 2 on 6m to 80m using the built-in tuner in the IC-7300 and got great reports on my signal on SSB and FT8. The SS25 was fulling extended and did not require any adjustments."

An amazing purchase!

"The CHA Hybrid Mini is everything i've come to expect from chameleon antenna! amazing craftsmanship, and delivers everything promised. a go to in my POTA activation bag."

Q&A

HYBRID-MINI · Feed Systems & Loading

A matching, loading, feedpoint, transformer, choke, or antenna-interface component.

Why operators make room for it

Turn a collection of parts into a deliberate RF system

The most visible part of an antenna is rarely the part doing the matching, loading, or current control that makes the deployment usable.

That is where CHA HYBRID-MINI enters the kit. The HYBRID SERIES Base is designed to enhance the capabilities of the common HF radio application by allowing faster tuning operation across the HF bands including MARS/CAP frequencies. This Hybrid-Mini Antenna base has an integral broadband impedance matching network (transformer 5:1) allowing broadband antenna tuning. An external antenna tuner is required to provide a low VSWR. The unit is water resistant.

That gives the operator a controlled way to shape the completed antenna, verify the match at low power, and understand which component limit governs before transmitting harder.

Best for

The most visible part of an antenna is rarely the part doing the matching, loading, or current control that makes the deployment usable.

What’s included
  • 1 X HYBRID Matching Unit Base
  • 1 X 30’ or 60' Tinned Copper KEVLAR PTFE (Teflon) (-70°C to 150°C) wire
  • Stainless Steel Hardware
What else you need

A wide-range antenna tuner or coupler is required for the documented configurations

Limitations
  • The antenna will operate from 1.8 - 54 MHz (including 160m – 6m amateur bands) without any adjustment with a wide range antenna tuner (the shortest configurations have limited performance below 3.5 MHz).
  • Carefully roll (do not twist) the Coaxial Cable.
  • We recommend that you do not disassemble the CHA CAP HAT.
  • Replace assemblies that do not pass a continuity check.
Expansion options
  • CHA MIL WHIP 2.0
  • CHA MIL EXT 2.0
  • CHA SS 17
  • CHA SPIKE MOUNT
  • CHA Jaw Mount
  • Capacity Hat
  • Counterpoise Kit
  • 50’ Paracord and Line Winder Assembly

What an operator can do

  • Install the component at the documented feedpoint, loading position, or common-mode control location.
  • Observe the lowest published power rating of every connected component and the duty-cycle limits for the operating mode.
  • Verify resonance, SWR, tuner range, connector type, and grounding or counterpoise requirements before transmitting.
Compatibility: Physical fit does not by itself establish RF, power, environmental, or structural approval. Follow a documented completed-system configuration.
