CHA MIL WHIP 2. 0

"I ordered a blemished CHA MIL WHIP 2. 0. When I received the antenna there was what appeared to be a white corrosion where two of the sections connect at a joint. When I cleaned the corrosion off the antenna it also removed some of the green paint. I will be testing the antenna in the next couple of days. I don't believe that the blemish will affect the operation of the antenna. I'm anxious to see what I can make the antenna do. Thanks Chameleon!"

I bought this one as

"I bought this one as a backup to the one that came with my MPAS 2. 0"

My reference antenna

"Thé charge mil whip with the extension is my goto antenna for every outdoor radio activity. As a new ham I didn’t have the money or authorization to build a big antenna so my my main antenna was this one. It stayed out in the rain and snow for almost a year. Just be careful of high wind. I broke mine because it fell down from a high mast ( I thought I was being wise) but it ends up being a great antenna at ground level. So I ended up buying a second one."

Great antenna

"I originally bought Chameleons first antenna the V1 and have used it when camping with the scouts over 13 plus yrs ago. I just recently bought a hybrid the extension and whip. And I have to say it was easy to put together . . just wish we could've gotten it donated to us like I see in alot of Chameleon review you tube videos from people"

Great for Portable Operation

"Purchased the bleminshed Hybrid Micro Unun & Mil Whip. Setup in the park was quick & easy. A couple of radials on the ground with a tuner and was operating with perfect SWR in no time. Also used the Hybrid-Micro with the supplied 60 wire, which worked even better. 20 watts and worked all stateside and Europe. > Even the blemished products worked great!"

Awesome

"Awesome. Couldn’t find a single blemish. Just like new. Thank you again for another awesome CHA product."

Q&A

MIL WHIP 2.0 · Radiators & Extensions

A modular radiator, whip, or extension used inside a documented antenna configuration.

Why operators make room for it

Give a modular antenna the length its configuration calls for

A small change in radiator length can open a different configuration without forcing the operator to carry a completely separate antenna.

That is where CHA MIL WHIP 2.0 enters the kit. The MIL 2.0 Whip is a broadband monopole antenna designed for portable or manpack radios requiring compact but rugged antenna systems.

Used in a documented configuration, the component gives the operator another practical build option while preserving the electrical, mechanical, and power limits of the complete system.

Best for

A small change in radiator length can open a different configuration without forcing the operator to carry a completely separate antenna.

What else you need

Combine it with the specified base, loading, feedpoint, mount, support, and radial or counterpoise system.

Compatible with

Physical fit alone does not prove RF or structural approval

Limitations

Limited performance below 3.5 MHz.

What an operator can do

  • Use the part as an electrical radiator or mechanical riser only in the position documented by the completed-system guide.
  • Combine it with the specified base, loading, feedpoint, mount, support, and radial or counterpoise system.
  • Treat a shared thread as physical fit only; verify RF, power, and structural compatibility from an approved configuration.
Compatibility: Physical fit does not by itself establish RF, power, environmental, or structural approval. Follow a documented completed-system configuration.

Complete product details

The MIL 2.0 Whip is a broadband monopole antenna designed for portable or manpack radios requiring compact but rugged antenna systems.

If used in a stand-alone setup the antenna will cover 28-54 MHz with an external antenna tuner. To enhance RF propagation and antenna performance a ground-plane is required.

Its design has been borrowed from similar antennas utilized by many armies all over the world. The MIL 2.0 Whip is very hardy, sturdy and portable (being collapsible). Un-mounted the entire antenna length is less than 20”. The 7 brass sections of 17" long each are hold together by a piece of military shock cord.

This is an excellent add-on for the HYBRID, HYBRID-MICRO and the greatly popular MPAS.

Specifications:

  • Height: 9’4”
  • Mounting Configuration: 3/8-24 Thread
  • The antenna system consists of:
  • 1 X MIL 2.0 Whip made of seven 17" sections made of tapered brass.
