Chameleon Antenna CHA PRV 2. 0

"This antenna system is first class. Very high quality materials and workmanship. Lightweight, compact size, high performance and perfect for portable use. I had a couple of early questions and the customer service was excellent. Very happy with this purchase!"

Robust Build and Flexible Design

"Great well-built antenna for home or portable operations. Deploys quickly, and covers all bands from 40 through 6 meters as advertised. The coil adjustment keys get you in the ballpark, but you really should use an antenna tuner to do fine adjustment to get in-band under your specific conditions. I observed wide band coverage for all but 40 meters (40 meters needed adjustment depending on the band segment I wanted to use). My setup includes a CHA SS INSULATOR and four 2-foot long segments (CHA SINGLE-EXT) so that I can work with elevated radials and different vertical length arrangements."

CHA PRV 2. 0

""I really like the new kit and the updated antenna. Although I understand the goal was a compact design, I do miss the two external pockets from the previous version. Regardless, the antenna performs awesomely. ""

Q&A

PRV 2.0 · Complete Antenna Systems

A complete or near-complete antenna platform for a documented operating objective.

Why operators make room for it

Build the station around the way the mission unfolds

The operating site rarely looks exactly like the plan: trees move, space tightens, and the best path may call for a different antenna shape.

The CHA PRV 2.0 (Portable Resonant Vertical 2.0) is a high-performance, field-tunable HF vertical antenna system engineered for serious portable operators who demand efficiency, flexibility, and rapid deployment. Part of the MPAS (Modular Portable Antenna System) family, the PRV 2.0 is a major evolution of the original PRV design, delivering up to 80% greater efficiency in its center-loaded configuration while maintaining exceptional portability and stealth .

For the operator, the payoff is a repeatable system that can move from transport to setup to verified operation without turning every trip into a new antenna experiment.

CHA PRV 2.0 – Portable Resonant Vertical Antenna

Versatile • Dependable • Stealth • Built to Last

The CHA PRV 2.0 (Portable Resonant Vertical 2.0) is a high-performance, field-tunable HF vertical antenna system engineered for serious portable operators who demand efficiency, flexibility, and rapid deployment. Part of the MPAS (Modular Portable Antenna System) family, the PRV 2.0 is a major evolution of the original PRV design, delivering up to 80% greater efficiency in its center-loaded configuration while maintaining exceptional portability and stealth

Designed and manufactured in the USA, the CHA PRV 2.0 is ideal for POTA, SOTA, field operations, emergency communications, RV travel, apartments, balconies, and restrictive antenna environments where performance and discretion matter.

Multi-Configuration, Mission-Ready Design

At the core of the CHA PRV 2.0 is the MCC 2.0 (Multi-Configuration Coil), a continuously adjustable loading system that allows the antenna to be quickly tuned to resonance without the need for an external antenna tuner. The antenna supports multiple deployment styles:

  • Center-Loaded Vertical (Recommended)

Uses the included 24” CHA SINGLE EXT to raise the coil, dramatically improving radiation efficiency—especially on 40m and 30m.

  • Base-Loaded Vertical

Ultra-compact and discreet, perfect for balconies, motel rooms, RV parks, and rapid travel setups.

  • 6-Meter Vertical Off-Center Fed Dipole (OCFD)

A simple reconfiguration turns the PRV 2.0 into an effective resonant vertical antenna for 50–54 MHz.

  • MPAS-Expanded Configurations (Optional)

Compatible with MIL Whips, SS17 telescopic whips, additional extensions, and all MPAS Ready mounts.

This modular approach allows operators to tailor height, efficiency, and footprint to the environment—without changing antennas.

True Resonant Operation – No Tuner Required

Unlike broadband compromise antennas, the CHA PRV 2.0 is a true resonant antenna. When properly adjusted, it achieves SWR < 2:1 across the entire amateur band on 40–10 meters, eliminating the need for an antenna tuner and reducing system losses. Tuning is fast and intuitive using the adjustable MCC 2.0 and included Band Keys for repeatable field setups.

Built for Real-World Portable Use

Every component of the CHA PRV 2.0 is designed for rugged outdoor operation:

  • Stainless-steel telescopic whip (SS58)
  • Silver plated copper loading coil
  • Precision-machined aluminum components
  • Integrated RF choke in the supplied coax
  • Compact counterpoise system with line winders
  • Compatibility with spike mounts, tripods, clamps, and camera mounts

Setup time is typically under 10 minutes, even including tuning, making it ideal for rapid activations and field deployments.

Frequency Coverage & Performance

  • HF Coverage: 40m through 10m (approx. 5.7–38 MHz, configuration dependent)
  • 6 Meter Coverage: 50–54 MHz (Vertical OCFD configuration)
  • Power Handling:
    • 500W SSB (intermittent duty)
    • 300W CW
    • 200W digital modes
