CHA LEFS 8010 Horizontal and NVIS Guide

CHA LEFS 8010 horizontal/NVIS deployment is a deliberate geometry choice for regional HF paths—not a promise that any low wire will work as NVIS.

Start with the operator’s decision: CHA LEFS 8010 horizontal/NVIS deployment is a deliberate geometry choice for regional HF paths—not a promise that any low wire will work as NVIS.

How this exact system works

Use the normal sloper with the Line Winder Assembly about 15–25 feet high for fast general-purpose operation, or support the wire horizontally at about 15 feet when regional/NVIS behavior is the goal. The 130-foot configuration may use either documented geometry.

The boundary that prevents mistakes

Band, ionosphere, height, ground, orientation, and nearby conductors determine whether the high-angle energy supports the required path.

Use this field sequence

Install the exact horizontal geometry, record band and height, compare the reviewed pattern for the matching configuration, and verify with scheduled regional stations rather than SWR alone.
