CHA LINK-D Troubleshooting Guide

When LINK-D will not tune or behaves differently from the last deployment, restore one known band and inspect the antenna from radio to wire end. Link state and coax faults are faster to check than random trimming.

Product Troubleshooting CHA LINK-D Reviewed 2026-07-14
Start with the operating choice: When LINK-D will not tune or behaves differently from the last deployment, restore one known band and inspect the antenna from radio to wire end. Link state and coax faults are faster to check than random trimming.

How the documented system works

Confirm both legs are on the same supported band, every link is fully seated as intended, the wires are on the DIPOLE wing nuts, and the coax is on the DIPOLE BNC. Inspect wire, insulation, connectors, and strain relief for damage.

The boundary that prevents mistakes

Do not mask an assembly error with a tuner or assume the coax is good because it worked earlier. The LEFS guide notes that cable and connector faults cause many antenna-system problems.

Use this field sequence

Power down, lower the antenna, inspect and compare both legs, test or substitute a known-good coax, restore the deployment, sweep at low power, and contact Chameleon Support with the exact band, geometry, SWR, and steps already taken.
