Build the documented shape

  • Begin with a reproducible sloper or inverted-V build.
  • Confirm the desired broadside or favored direction from the exact geometry.
  • Use the same feed line, tuner state, power, and measurement reference plane for comparisons.
  • Change height or orientation only when the support remains safe.

Why an operator chooses it

A lower displayed SWR after a change can mean better matching, more loss, or simply a different transformation. Compare receive noise, known signals, and on-air reports as well.

  • Confirm the exact radiator, matching unit, return path, feed line, and support arrangement.
  • Keep conductors and supports clear of power lines and uncontrolled public access.
  • Reproduce the guide dimensions before experimenting.
  • Inspect every connection and begin testing at low power.
  • Record geometry, band, tuner state, and the result before changing one variable.
