CHA OCF40 Configuration Guide: Portable Deployment

For portable work, the OCF40 packages an efficient full-size 40-meter-class wire antenna into a small pouch. The tradeoff is footprint: plan roughly 60 feet of clear space and a reliable center support before unpacking it.

Start with the real operating role: For portable work, the OCF40 packages an efficient full-size 40-meter-class wire antenna into a small pouch. The tradeoff is footprint: plan roughly 60 feet of clear space and a reliable center support before unpacking it.

How the documented system works

Most POTA and SOTA operators will use the one-support inverted-V. A horizontal configuration is available when two end supports and one center support are practical; the optional 25-foot RG-316 feed line includes an integrated choke.

The boundary that prevents mistakes

Light weight does not remove electrical, trip, weather, or overhead-line hazards. The guide does not authorize improvised power limits, low public-access wire ends, or operating without checking the final installation.

Use this field sequence

Check site rules and weather, select the geometry, stage each wire on its winder, use visible anchors, raise the center, verify clearance and SWR, operate within the guide limits, then inspect and rewind every component during recovery.
