CHA OCF40 System Overview

The CHA OCF40 is a half-pound, roughly 66-foot off-center-fed dipole built for POTA, SOTA, and other lightweight portable HF work. It gives current operators a real resonant wire antenna without turning a compact radio kit into a heavy station.

Start with the real operating role: The CHA OCF40 is a half-pound, roughly 66-foot off-center-fed dipole built for POTA, SOTA, and other lightweight portable HF work. It gives current operators a real resonant wire antenna without turning a compact radio kit into a heavy station.

How the documented system works

Its 44-foot and 22-foot wire legs meet at a lightweight matching transformer. It covers 40, 20, 10, and 6 meters without a tuner and 60, 30, 17, 15, and 12 meters with a suitable tuner.

The boundary that prevents mistakes

The unequal leg lengths are intentional. The transformer is the electrical feed point and center support; swapping wire geometry, loading the coax mechanically, or calling every band tuner-free changes the documented system.

Use this field sequence

Add a safe center support and suspension line, connect both named wire legs and a suitable BNC feed line, deploy horizontally or as an inverted-V, then verify the installed antenna before operating within 50 W SSB or 25 W CW/other-mode limits.
