CHA PRV MIL Configuration

CHA PRV MIL Configuration keeps the complete antenna in view: documented feed point, radiator, loading, return path, mount, and feed line.

MPAS READY Handbook 02 Configurations Reviewed 2026-07-14
In plain language: CHA PRV MIL Configuration keeps the complete antenna in view: documented feed point, radiator, loading, return path, mount, and feed line.

This system makes sense when it is viewed as a complete signal path rather than a collection of pieces that happen to share a thread.

The CHA PRV 2.0 is designed for the operator who wants a resonant 40–6 m antenna without carrying a separate antenna tuner. Its standard field system combines the MCC 2.0, SS58 whip, 27 in SINGLE EXT, CHA BLANK, PUCK HUB, four 12.5 ft counterpoise wires, choked coax, Band Keys, and a selected MPAS READY mount.

What matters in this configuration

  • The normal center-loaded arrangement raises the MCC 2.0 above the feed point for easier adjustment and substantially better lower-band efficiency than the compact base-loaded arrangement. When stealth, travel size, or stability matters more, the same core hardware can be deployed base loaded.
  • SS58 center loaded for the normal 40–10 m field setup.
  • SS58 base loaded when the shortest, most stable package is the priority.
  • 6 m vertical off-center-fed dipole with MCC 2.0, PUCK HUB, and counterpoises removed.
  • Documented optional MIL WHIP or SS17 MCC 2.0 configurations; the current guide does not document SS25 with PRV 2.0.

Why this choice matters

CHA PRV 2.0 is a compact, field-tunable resonant vertical system built around the continuously adjustable MCC 2.0 loading coil. The useful result comes from the complete documented system rather than any one threaded component.

The parts that make it a complete antenna

  • CHA MCC 2.0 continuously adjustable loading coil
  • CHA SS58 telescoping whip and 27 in CHA SINGLE EXT
  • CHA BLANK feed point and CHA PUCK HUB
  • Four 12.5 ft banana-plug counterpoise wires, winders, and tent stakes
  • 12 ft RG-58 coax with an integrated RF choke
  • Band Keys, tactical storage bag, CHA SS INSULATOR, and the selected mount option

Use the result in the field

Record the exact radiator, loading or feed-point hardware, return system, mount, feed line, band, dimensions, and final measurement. Repeatability is more valuable than a one-time low SWR reading.

Before you transmit

  • Confirm the exact radiator and whether the MCC 2.0 is base loaded, center loaded, or removed for the 6 m OCFD.
  • Use the documented counterpoise count and starting length for the selected band.
  • Keep the supplied feed-line choke in the coax path.
  • Set the MCC 2.0 from the guide or Band Key, then fine-tune the installed antenna.
  • Inspect every mechanical and RF connection before applying operating power.
Boundary: The current guide documents SS58, MIL WHIP, and SS17 MCC 2.0 configurations. It does not document SS25, so connector fit must not be presented as approval.
Use the current source before deployment.

This lesson explains the decision in plain language. The current product guide controls assembly, settings, ratings, and safety.
