Integrating the CHA RXL with Your HF Station

Integrate the RXL as a protected receive-only path. The loop-side coax goes directly from the preamplifier’s BNC connector to the bias-T’s local-antenna BNC; the receiver connects to the bias-T’s SO-239 through a separate jumper.

Start with the real operating role: Integrate the RXL as a protected receive-only path. The loop-side coax goes directly from the preamplifier’s BNC connector to the bias-T’s local-antenna BNC; the receiver connects to the bias-T’s SO-239 through a separate jumper.

How the documented system works

The bias-T injects 12–14 VDC center-positive power into the loop coax. It is not weather resistant and belongs indoors or in a protected enclosure. The loop itself may be mast-, tripod-, or tabletop-mounted.

The boundary that prevents mistakes

Do not put a switch, duplexer, rotor controller, arrester, or other electrical device in the powered coax segment unless Chameleon explicitly documents it. Never route transmitter output into the RXL path.

Use this field sequence

Label the receive-only coax and ports, verify the direct powered run, connect everything with power off, separate the RXL from transmitting antennas, energize the bias-T, and confirm receive function before station use.

Source boundary
