CHA V-DIPOLE Frequently Asked Questions

The documented radiator is two SS17 whips. M-COIL and hairpin are required only for 40/30 meters; 20–6 meters use no M-COIL or the documented jumper. Counterpoise/radial accessories do not belong on this balanced dipole unless a future guide explicitly says otherwise.

Start with the operating decision: The documented radiator is two SS17 whips. M-COIL and hairpin are required only for 40/30 meters; 20–6 meters use no M-COIL or the documented jumper. Counterpoise/radial accessories do not belong on this balanced dipole unless a future guide explicitly says otherwise.

How the system behaves

Choose CHA V-DIPOLE when a resonant, no-tuner 40–6 meter antenna must fit a small temporary site and raising both dipole ends above the ground is more practical than stringing full-size wire.

The boundary that prevents mistakes

The Add-On Kit supplies two M-COILs, CHA SS INSULATOR, hairpin match, CHA BLANK, RF adapters, and SINGLE EXT. It does not include the two SS17 whips, HUB, or coax normally supplied by CHA TDL. Those exact parts complete the antenna.

Use this field sequence

Use the documented Spike Mount, UCM, or heavy surveyor-tripod/SURVEYOR-A path. Preserve the hub’s V geometry, install SS INSULATOR above a conductive support extension, hand-tighten the complete feed assembly, extend both SS17s equally, and keep the public clear.

Source boundary

CHA V-DIPOLE User Guide Rev. 4/30/2026. Use the exact current configuration, components, feed, support, geometry, power, and safety limits; mechanical fit does not establish compatibility.
