CHA V-DIPOLE Performance, Tradeoffs, and Comparisons

The V-DIPOLE is compact, balanced, resonant, and needs no tuner, but it requires physical whip changes for band changes, exact symmetry, safe support, and more assembly than a broadband vertical. Its low-mounted V raises the ends compared with a horizontal dipole at the same feed height.

Start with the operating decision: The V-DIPOLE is compact, balanced, resonant, and needs no tuner, but it requires physical whip changes for band changes, exact symmetry, safe support, and more assembly than a broadband vertical. Its low-mounted V raises the ends compared with a horizontal dipole at the same feed height.

How the system behaves

Choose CHA V-DIPOLE when a resonant, no-tuner 40–6 meter antenna must fit a small temporary site and raising both dipole ends above the ground is more practical than stringing full-size wire.

The boundary that prevents mistakes

The Add-On Kit supplies two M-COILs, CHA SS INSULATOR, hairpin match, CHA BLANK, RF adapters, and SINGLE EXT. It does not include the two SS17 whips, HUB, or coax normally supplied by CHA TDL. Those exact parts complete the antenna.

Use this field sequence

Use the documented Spike Mount, UCM, or heavy surveyor-tripod/SURVEYOR-A path. Preserve the hub’s V geometry, install SS INSULATOR above a conductive support extension, hand-tighten the complete feed assembly, extend both SS17s equally, and keep the public clear.
