CHA V-DIPOLE Troubleshooting Guide

Hand-check every adapter first. If SWR remains above 2:1, remove the complete hairpin assembly, connect coax directly to CHA BLANK, fully extend both SS17s, test at 14.1 MHz, verify the assembly diagram, and substitute known-good coax before contacting support with photos.

Start with the operating decision: Hand-check every adapter first. If SWR remains above 2:1, remove the complete hairpin assembly, connect coax directly to CHA BLANK, fully extend both SS17s, test at 14.1 MHz, verify the assembly diagram, and substitute known-good coax before contacting support with photos.

How the system behaves

The Add-On Kit supplies two M-COILs, CHA SS INSULATOR, hairpin match, CHA BLANK, RF adapters, and SINGLE EXT. It does not include the two SS17 whips, HUB, or coax normally supplied by CHA TDL. Those exact parts complete the antenna.

The boundary that prevents mistakes

Remove RF before touching whips, coils, hairpin, or adapters. Use hand force only, keep the stainless whips away from power lines and people, stabilize the mount, isolate unused conductive support, and stop when wind or leverage makes the structure uncertain.

Use this field sequence

Use the documented Spike Mount, UCM, or heavy surveyor-tripod/SURVEYOR-A path. Preserve the hub’s V geometry, install SS INSULATOR above a conductive support extension, hand-tighten the complete feed assembly, extend both SS17s equally, and keep the public clear.
