Start here: The current URT1 guide requires a BALUN at its documented coax-fed inverted-V antenna but does not specify a universal ratio or authorize a direct ladder-line adapter.
What the operator is actually controlling
A current balun should be selected for impedance range, common-mode impedance, frequency, power, duty cycle, and the antenna feedpoint it serves. Connector fit and a familiar ratio do not settle those questions.
Use this sequence
- Start with the antenna designer’s specified balun.
- Confirm measured frequency range and power rating.
- Keep the balun at the balanced antenna feedpoint in the documented coax-fed path.
- Do not insert anything into the URT1 Coupler-to-Tuner coax.
Do not make these substitutions
- Calling every 1:1 device suitable for every dipole.
- Choosing ratio from nominal ladder-line impedance alone.
- Treating a voltage balun as equivalent to a current choke.
