Choosing an MPAS READY Feed Line

Choose an MPAS READY feed line by connector path, frequency, length, loss, packed size, and whether common-mode suppression is already integrated.

MPAS READY Handbook 03 Components Reviewed 2026-07-14
In plain language: Choose an MPAS READY feed line by connector path, frequency, length, loss, packed size, and whether common-mode suppression is already integrated.

Why this matters in a Chameleon system

Current Chameleon choices include RG-316 and RG-58 assemblies in several lengths with integrated feed-point choking on the documented versions. Ordinary operator-supplied 50-ohm coax may need a separate CHA RFI CHOKE.

Build or diagnose it this way

  • Confirm both connector genders.
  • Use the shortest practical safe cable.
  • If the cable has the documented integrated choke, do not add the standalone CHA RFI CHOKE by default.
  • For ordinary 50-ohm coax, follow the antenna recipe for separate feedpoint choking.

Wrong turns to avoid

  • Adding two chokes because two product names appear in a component list.
  • Choosing coax only by length.
  • Assuming a station tuner cancels loss in a long mismatched line.
