These systems share a modular philosophy, but they are not the same package at two prices. The useful question is not “Which one is better?” It is “Which set of documented choices do I actually need after I leave the vehicle?”
Choose MPAS Lite when
- A lighter four-pound class kit matters.
- A telescoping SS17 or optional SS25 is the primary vertical radiator.
- The four documented shapes—vertical, inverted V, sloper, and horizontal NVIS—cover the plan.
- Approximately five-minute setup is more important than carrying the broader MPAS 2.0 hardware set.
Choose MPAS 2.0 when
- You want the MIL 2.0 whip and MIL EXT 2.0 vertical hardware.
- The longer 73 ft wire is important.
- You want the six manual-defined choices, including inverted-L operation.
- The extra components and weight are acceptable in exchange for more deployment options.
The decision people miss
Power class is selected through the HYBRID MICRO or HYBRID MINI option. Do not choose only from wattage: compare carried weight, wire length, required supports, configuration choices, and the time available to deploy.
Before you transmit
- List the bands and paths that matter.
- Decide whether a vertical, wire, or both must be available.
- Count the supports each likely site provides.
- Choose MICRO or MINI from the intended mode and power, not from the largest number.
