In plain language: Troubleshoot the return system by verifying connector, attachment point, wire count, length, spread, isolation, and nearby metal before retuning the radiator.

Why this matters in a Chameleon system

A ring terminal under paint, loose banana plug, wire routed beside coax, or support unintentionally bonded around an SS INSULATOR can change the installed antenna.

Build or diagnose it this way

  • Inspect every return conductor end to end.
  • Restore guide layout and clearances.
  • Check isolation where the SS INSULATOR is used.
  • Retest at low power with one controlled change.

Wrong turns to avoid

  • Adding wire before finding an open connection.
  • Treating damp soil as repeatable.
  • Moving radiator and radial system together.
