Mounting the CHA TACYAGI-70: Direct 1/4-20 and Chameleon 3/8-24 Support Paths

Direct 1/4-20 tripod path

TACYAGI handle, 1/4-20 female → tripod head, 1/4-20 male. This is the only listed arrangement that does not require the CHA SS Adapter.

Chameleon 3/8-24 support path

TACYAGI handle, 1/4-20 female → CHA SS Adapter, 1/4-20 male to 3/8-24 male → documented extension or mast → approved base support. The adapter converts the handle interface; it does not by itself establish the completed structure's capacity.

Direct Tripod Procedure

  1. Inspect the handle socket and tripod stud for damage, contamination, and correct 1/4-20 thread.
  2. Seat the removable handle securely on the boom.
  3. Thread the handle onto the tripod head by hand without cross-threading or forcing the joint.
  4. Spread and secure the tripod legs, balance the antenna, route the feed line with strain relief, and verify the intended polarization and aim.
  5. Recheck stability before transmitting and whenever the antenna is repositioned.

Adapted Support Procedure

  1. Thread the 1/4-20 side of the CHA SS Adapter into the handle by hand.
  2. Connect the exposed 3/8-24 side to the selected documented extension or mast path.
  3. Install the support above a CHA SPIKE MOUNT, CHA UCM, or an allowed CHA CARBON FIBER TRIPOD interface.
  4. Verify every joint, the base, balance, wind loading, cable strain relief, clearance, and the complete load path before raising or operating the antenna.

Identify the handle, CHA SS Adapter, extension, tripod interface, and base support before assembly. Similar-looking threads are not a substitute for the documented part sequence.

Carbon-Fiber Tripod Boundary

Do not install the CHA CFM-34 HD on the CHA CARBON FIBER TRIPOD. The mast is too heavy for this base path. Use the CHA SPIKE MOUNT or CHA UCM for the documented CFM-34 HD support arrangement and validate the complete deployment.

Inspection and Safety

  • Matching threads establish the interface only; they do not prove structural capacity.
  • Confirm full, clean thread engagement without cross-threading or excessive force.
  • Account for antenna weight, extension height, leverage, wind area, tripod stance, soil, clamp surface, and cable pull.
  • Use feed-line strain relief so the connector and aiming position do not carry cable weight.
  • Maintain RF-exposure and electrical clearances and keep the structure away from utility wiring.
  • Lower the antenna for unsafe wind, an unstable base, a slipping clamp, damaged threads, or any uncertain load path.
