In plain language: The MPAS READY counterpoise reference is a recipe lookup: identify the complete antenna first, then use its exact wire count, length, connector, and attachment point.

Why this matters in a Chameleon system

There is no universal best Chameleon ground wire. A hasty single counterpoise, four radials, and a compact tuned-vertical set are different controlled choices.

Build or diagnose it this way

  • Select the named antenna recipe.
  • Match ring terminal or banana plug to the mount.
  • Record wire count, length, direction, and attachment.
  • Retune after changing layout, support, or nearby metal.

Wrong turns to avoid

  • Sorting only by longest wire.
  • Combining alternatives that are mutually exclusive.
  • Using a blank matrix field as permission to omit the RF return.
