Understanding Current Distribution on an Antenna

Current distribution describes how RF current magnitude and phase vary along the antenna conductors and other connected paths.

The useful model: Current distribution describes how RF current magnitude and phase vary along the antenna conductors and other connected paths.

What controls the result

Maxima, minima, bends, loading, end effects, feed position, ground, and common-mode paths determine which parts radiate strongly and where voltage becomes high.

The misleading shortcut

A mechanically long part is not automatically the main radiator, and an added extension can become either radiator or support depending on insulation and topology.

Make the better decision

Start from the complete electrical connection diagram, model or measure current on every conductor including the feed line, preserve documented geometry, and change one path at a time.

Evidence boundary

Propagation and antenna metrics are meaningful only with their frequency, path, geometry, reference plane, loss assumptions, and measurement method. Use current observations and the exact installed system.
