Start here: The current CHA URT1 guide documents two antenna outputs: the insulated beehive for one single-wire radiator, or the ANTENNA coax connector for a coax-fed antenna. It does not document ladder line connected directly across the beehive and ground terminals.
What the operator is actually controlling
A balanced antenna is not the same thing as a direct balanced-line tuner output. The documented inverted-V path keeps its BALUN at the antenna and connects that assembly by coax to ANTENNA on the Tuner Unit.
Use this sequence
- Choose either the single-wire output or coax ANTENNA output—never both.
- For the documented inverted V, locate the Tuner Unit near the mast and connect coax from the antenna BALUN.
- Keep the Coupler-to-Tuner bias-T coax free of inline devices.
- Treat any direct ladder-line proposal as unverified until Chameleon publishes that exact interface.
Do not make these substitutions
- Using beehive and ground as an assumed pair of balanced terminals.
- Removing the dipole BALUN because the URT1 is a tuner.
- Connecting ANTENNA and beehive at the same time.
