The field meaning: QSL means acknowledgement or confirmation of receipt; it can also refer to a card or electronic record confirming a completed contact.

What is really happening

A valid confirmation normally identifies both call signs, date/time in UTC, band or frequency, mode, and report according to the award or service rules.

Do not confuse it with this

A logbook entry alone is not always a QSL, and altering time, band, or call details merely to force a match undermines the confirmation.

Use it deliberately

Log the contact accurately, use UTC, upload or send through the agreed service, resolve discrepancies from evidence, and retain records needed for awards or operations.

Decision boundary

Operating shorthand and propagation models are tools for making a better decision, not proof of a path, contact, or safety condition. Confirm with current rules, measured signals, weather, and the complete station.
