CHA LINK-D15 Engineering Guide: Why 15 Meters?

LINK-D15 replaces LINK-D’s 30-meter choice with 15 meters, giving the LEFS 4010 operator a 40/20/15 linked-dipole set. That makes it the more direct option when those three bands match the operating plan.

Start with the operating choice: LINK-D15 replaces LINK-D’s 30-meter choice with 15 meters, giving the LEFS 4010 operator a 40/20/15 linked-dipole set. That makes it the more direct option when those three bands match the operating plan.

How the documented system works

The value is operational rather than magical: one compact feed point and linked wire set can be reconfigured on the ground instead of packing three independent dipoles.

The boundary that prevents mistakes

Including 15 meters does not make LINK-D15 a universal substitute for LINK-D or WARC-D. It does not add 30, 17, or 12 meters, and actual propagation remains time- and path-dependent.

Use this field sequence

Choose LINK-D15 when 40/20/15 are the intended bands, plan a safe way to lower the antenna for link changes, and verify the selected band after every geometry or link-state change.
