Do not put a CFM-34 HD directly on the Spike Mount
The CHA SPIKE MOUNT and CHA CFM-34 HD share a 3/8-24 connection, but that thread alone is not enough to support the mast correctly. The top of the Spike Mount is narrower than the stainless-steel shoulder at the bottom of the CFM-34 HD. Without the collar, mast weight, wind, and side load can create a lever at the exposed stud and bend it.
The black-anodized CHA 34HD COLLAR fills that mechanical gap. It gives the mast’s wider base shoulder a proper bearing surface so the threaded stud locates the mast instead of carrying the bending load. If your CFM-34 HD is going on a Spike Mount, this collar is not optional.

One mast, three different base paths
- On a CHA SPIKE MOUNT: install the CHA 34HD COLLAR. The narrow mount surface otherwise leaves the threaded stud carrying leverage it was not intended to carry.
- On a CHA SURVEYOR-A: do not add the collar. The adapter’s bearing surface is already wider than the CFM-34 HD stainless-steel base and supports the shoulder directly.
- In a CHA PORTA-MOUNT: this collar is not the adapter. Use the complete three-component CHA 34HD REDUCER KIT.
Installation and inspection
- Confirm that the mast is a CHA CFM-34 HD and the ground support is a CHA SPIKE MOUNT.
- Place the collar at the mast-to-mount interface so the stainless-steel base shoulder is fully supported.
- Seat the assembly squarely before extending the mast or adding any antenna load.
- Inspect the 3/8-24 stud before every deployment. Retire a bent, cracked, loose, cross-threaded, or otherwise damaged base from service.
- Apply every CFM-34 HD height, load, guying, wind, terrain, and power-line safety requirement to the completed setup.

Do I need this collar with the CHA SPIKE MOUNT?
Yes. It is mandatory when installing the CHA CFM-34 HD on the CHA SPIKE MOUNT.
Why is a matching 3/8-24 thread not enough?
The thread locates and retains the mast, but the narrow Spike Mount surface does not support the wider CFM-34 HD base shoulder by itself. That unsupported span creates leverage at the stud.
Do I need it with the CHA SURVEYOR-A?
No. The SURVEYOR-A bearing surface is wide enough to support the CFM-34 HD stainless-steel base shoulder directly.
Does it adapt the CFM-34 HD to a CHA PORTA-MOUNT?
No. Every documented PORTA-MOUNT path requires the complete CHA 34HD REDUCER KIT.
Does a new CFM-34 HD already include one?
Yes. The current CFM-34 HD package includes one base collar. This listing provides a replacement or spare.
Can I keep using a stud that is already bent?
No. A bent or otherwise damaged structural stud must be removed from service and evaluated before the mast is deployed again.
