SKYLOOP 2.0 · Loop Antennas

A loop antenna or loop-system component for compact, directional, broadband, receive, or field operation.

Why operators make room for it

Bring useful loop performance to a space that cannot host a long wire

A balcony, campsite, crowded field position, or noise-heavy neighborhood can make a long wire impractical before the radio is even unpacked.

That is where CHA SKYLOOP 2.0 enters the kit. The Chameleon Antenna SKYLOOP 2.0 is a 286' full wave loop antenna cut for 80M. The main advantages of a horizontal loop antenna are reduced background noise and a better gain over a dipole—which means signals will be stronger. The antenna is comprised of 286 feet of 16ga. wire, insulators, and a matching transformer unit. The integral broadband impedance matching network transformer allows broadband antenna tuning.

The result is a deliberate loop-based station that can be positioned, tuned, and re-oriented as conditions change instead of forcing a long-wire solution into the wrong site.

See what this product is best suited for, what the documented setup needs, and the boundaries to confirm before deployment.

Best for

A balcony, campsite, crowded field position, or noise-heavy neighborhood can make a long wire impractical before the radio is even unpacked.

What’s included
  • 1 X CHA SKYLOOP 2.0 matching unit
  • 1 X 286’ Tinned Copper KEVLAR Wire
What else you need

Use the specified coupling, tuning, feed-line, and support components for the selected loop configuration.

Limitations

Replace assemblies that do not pass a continuity check.

What an operator can do

  • Deploy the loop in the documented shape, orientation, height, and support arrangement.
  • Use the specified coupling, tuning, feed-line, and support components for the selected loop configuration.
  • Re-check tuning and clearance whenever the loop location or geometry changes.

Complete product details

The Chameleon Antenna SKYLOOP 2.0 is a 286' full wave loop antenna cut for 80M. The main advantages of a horizontal loop antenna are reduced background noise and a better gain over a dipole—which means signals will be stronger. The antenna is comprised of 286 feet of 16ga. wire, insulators, and a matching transformer unit. The integral broadband impedance matching network transformer allows broadband antenna tuning. The antenna will operate from 3.5 - 54 MHz (including 80m – 6m amateur bands) without any adjustment with a wide range antenna tuner.

An open space of at least 72' X 72' will be required to install and support the antenna properly.  The antenna should be ideally installed at least 30' to 40' off the ground for maximum performance although if mounted at lower heights the antenna still performs with reduced efficiency.

The Skyloop 2.0 is an efficient omni-directional antenna over most real earth and exhibits a good signal-to-noise ratio.  Successful local and DX operation can be made when the antenna is elevated at least 20' above ground but the higher the better.

WE GREATLY RECOMMEND TO PUT A CHA RFI CHOKE AT THE FEEDPOINT OF THE UNIT.
