CHA-TDL get’s me on the air

"I love the CHA-TDL, it sets up fast and has great ears! I also like the ability to run it as a vertical. I am in a HOA and the ability to set up and take down is important to me. I pushed it up on a 15’Porta-Mast and the performance was even better! Perfect for POTA. Well made with quality components, I wish that I had bought this sooner."

Wonderful antenna; well worth the money

"Absolutely love the antenna and it's performance. So easy to set up, tune, and use. Thinking of playing with a ground plane set up to possibly increase it's performance. Thanks CHA 73 W4FNP"

Q&A

This item is NOT suitable for military use. More ruggedized military versions of the products are available, along with the necessary fittings, through our partners at Shakespeare. Prices may vary from this site.

The Tactical Delta Loop antenna (TDL), is a portable High Frequency (HF) antenna specially designed for transportability, quick setup, and a small footprint. This antenna is ideal for camping or temporary installation in a townhome or other houses with a small yard or antenna restrictions. It can operate on all amateur radio bands from 3.5 to 54.0 MHz (80-6M), but is most effective on the bands from 10.1 to 54.0 MHz (30-6M). The Tactical Delta Loop will also provide acceptable shorter range Near-Vertical Incidence Skywave (NVIS) propagation on the 3.5 to 7.0 MHz bands (80 - 40M) making it a useful backup EMCOMM antenna preparedness.

The Tactical Delta Loop can easily be configured as a horizontally polarized inverted Delta Loop or as a ground mounted vertical antenna. Some of the advantages of a Delta Loop antenna over a vertical are increased efficiency, reduced noise, and some broadside directionality. An antenna tuner or coupler is required for operation on the amateur radio bands from 3.5 to 7.0 MHz (80-40M). Setup can typically be accomplished by one operator in 5 minutes.

The Tactical Delta Loop antenna is comprised of two 17-foot telescoping whip antennas, an option for either the Hybrid Micro or Hybrid Mini matching transformer, a 25-foot loop wire, a ground spike mount, a anodized aluminum hub, and an optional 50 foot coaxial cable with RFI Choke. Antennas built by Chameleon Antenna are versatile, dependable, stealthy, and built to last. Please read this operator’s manual so you may obtain the maximum utility from your Tactical Delta Loop antenna.

Note:

The CHA SS25 telescopic whip antennas are not suitable for use with the CHA TDL (Tactical Delta Loop) antenna system in a delta loop configuration. When extended to their full 25-foot length, the SS25 whips lack the necessary rigidity to support the connecting wire between the two whips, leading to sagging and instability.

For optimal performance and structural stability, the CHA TDL should be used with the CHA SS17 whips, which provide the necessary support to maintain the antenna’s intended shape.
