Unusual Service!

"Service Review. Chameleon products are undisputed leaders in fit for purpose and rugged durability. I comment on what in my opinion is uncommon service. On a recent Sunday morning and thinking about my deployment of a new Chameleon antenna component, I was unsure about its best configuration. So I sent a simple email to tech support. Expecting a response sometime during the next week. I was wrong, I received a clear response within two hours - on Sunday morning. You can’t put a dollar value on that. Spectacular!"

UNIVERSAL CLAMP MOUNT-GET ONE

"Very cool, useful item. I love it and would highly recommend it with all 5 Stars. Very well made and you don't have to bend over to bury the ground spike, just put it on the picnic table, call CQ and love life. Thank you for the craftsmanship on this . . . Mark-KC1SOW"

Q&A

CHA UCM · UNIVERSAL CLAMP MOUNT

A heavy-duty mechanical clamp and conductive feed-through for documented portable antenna installations.

Turn the structure already at the site into a practical antenna position

Build from a table, rail, balcony, bench, or other suitable edge

CHA UCM gives portable and restricted-property operators a solid antenna base when driving a ground spike is impossible or carrying a separate tripod makes no sense. Clamp it to a suitable structural edge, connect the feed line underneath, and place the documented 3/8-24 antenna or feed assembly above.

The isolated top stud and dedicated side return-path attachment keep the RF connections organized in one compact mount. It is a mechanical clamp and conductive feed-through—not a tuner or transformer—so the selected radiator, matching unit, radial system, and support still come from the complete antenna configuration.

A stable edge becomes the starting point

The official guide shows the clamp fully seated on a suitable surface with the antenna assembly installed above it.

Complete-system checks

Thread fit is only the beginning

Works with
Only a documented 3/8-24 radiator, feed unit or antenna assembly on a suitable support surface.
Radial/counterpoise
Ring-terminal CHA COUNTERPOISE KIT or COUNTERPOISE EXTRA WIRE may use the side screw when required.
Banana-plug boundary
Banana-plug radial products need a separately documented banana interface; they do not plug directly into the UCM.
Explicit exclusion
Do not mount CHA CFM-34 HD on the UCM.

Before transmitting

  • Verify full clamp engagement and a stable, structurally sound surface.
  • Provide coax strain relief and the guying or secondary retention required by the complete antenna.
  • Confirm the radiator, matching unit, radial/counterpoise, choke and power limits from the completed-system guide.
  • Stop if the mount shifts, the surface deforms, a connection heats or analyzer behavior changes.
