UNUN/BALUN

Field selection guide

Choose from UNUN/BALUN

UNUN/BALUN contains transformers and balanced or unbalanced RF-interface components used at feedpoints and other controlled locations in an antenna system. Their purpose may include impedance transformation, transition between balanced and unbalanced structures, or management of unwanted common-mode current, depending on the design.

Choose the device specified by the completed antenna—not simply the ratio printed in a name or the connectors on the enclosure. Confirm the required transformation, balance role, frequency range, power and duty cycle, feedpoint impedance, connector and conductor interfaces, grounding or counterpoise arrangement, weather exposure, and installation orientation. A balun and an unun are not interchangeable labels, and a matching ratio alone does not prove that the device belongs in a particular design. Follow the current antenna guide and verify the assembled system at low power before increasing transmitter output.
