Heavy-Duty Portable Carbon Fiber Mast
A 33 ft 7 in portable mast for supporting documented wire antennas and carefully controlled elevated Chameleon configurations where trees or permanent structures are unavailable.
Take your antenna higher
Build a serious field station where there is no tower
The CHA CFM-34 HD gives portable operators the height to turn an open campsite, park, or emergency operating position into a capable HF station. Its heavy-duty carbon-fiber construction reaches more than 33 feet while collapsing to a transportable package.
Use it to lift documented wire-antenna feed points, support loop corners, or elevate specifically approved Chameleon vertical configurations. The result is more deployment freedom when trees, buildings, and permanent supports are unavailable - provided the published load, mounting, height, wind, and guying limits are followed.

Operator decision support
Plan the complete setup
See what this product is best suited for, what the documented setup needs, and the boundaries to confirm before deployment.
- Best for
A perfect clearing without a usable tree is only a good antenna site if the operator brought a dependable way to create height.
- What’s included
- MAST
- BASE COLLAR
- BASE PROTECTIVE CAP
- LOCKING CLAMP (PAIR)
- What else you need
Select the approved base, sleeve, tripod, stake, or mount for the support and terrain.
- Compatible with
All Chameleon portable wire antennas and MPAS READY antennas, subject to the product-specific extension and guying limits in the compatibility table
- Limitations
- Maximum antenna load: 6 lb (2.72 kg); reduce the load prudently for height, surface area, and wind
- Do not use a Universal Clamp Mount (UCM) or Jaw Mount with the CHA CFM-34 HD
- Keep the mast and attached antenna away from power lines and utility wires
- Expansion options
- Long Spike Mount
- Surveyor Tripod Adapter
What an operator can do
- Raise the feed point or center of documented wire antennas, dipoles, and end-fed systems.
- Support one corner of a SKYLOOP 2.0 with each mast.
- Deploy approved vertical systems at restricted mast heights when the required guying is installed.
- Create a temporary field, HOA, POTA, EMCOMM, or expedition support structure without a permanent tower.
Approved bases and mounting
- Ground: CHA 21-inch Long Spike Mount.
- Surveyor tripod: heavy-duty surveyor tripod with CHA SURVEYOR-A.
- CHA PORTA-MOUNT: Hitch, Side, Wheel, and Top mounts only when used with the approved CHA 3 IN SLEEVE kit.
Do not use: CHA UCM or CHA Jaw Mount. Stacking CFM-34 HD masts is not supported.
Compatibility and operating limits
- MPAS 2.0 wire configurations: supported without mast-extension restrictions stated for the wire arrangement.
- MPAS 2.0 MIL Whip + MIL EXT vertical: guy whenever any mast section is extended; extend no more than three sections, approximately 19 ft.
- MPAS Lite / BV with SS17: guy whenever any section is extended; no more than three sections, approximately 19 ft.
- SS25 vertical: always guy; no more than two sections, approximately 14 ft.
- TDL: guy whenever any section is extended; no more than two sections, approximately 14 ft.
- TD 2.0, EMCOMM II V2 / III Base, B3D 120/147: guying is recommended above three extended sections.
- LEFS 8010 with 80 m extension: guy above three extended sections.
Carbon-fiber and field safety
- Carbon fiber is electrically conductive. Isolate antenna wire from the mast to reduce coupling, detuning, pattern change, and loss.
- Guy the mast whenever the antenna, extension height, surface area, or wind requires it; the 6 lb figure is not a blanket approval for every load.
- Never deploy the mast or any antenna near power lines.
