Heavy Duty Mast

"I’ve had this mast for a couple weeks now. Chameleon made sure I got it before field day. I deployed it first with the spike and an EFHW which was nothing for this mast. Then I swapped the EFHW for the tactical delta loop. Then raised it up about 25’ or so. The mast remained solid. I did not need to use guy lines and we had some weather roll in for a few hours but did not affect the mast at all. I’m very happy with this mast. So far it has exceeded my expectations."

Solidly built mast

"Great design, solid build quality and locks hold mast and weight of antennas. The only problem I had was with the protective base cap. It does not stay on like is seen in YouTube product demonstrations. I’ve had to use gorilla tape to keep it from falling off. It would be great if the cap was threaded on the inside to receive the 3/8 x 24 stud"

Greatest mast I own

"This mast is serious business. I saw Bob’s (HOA HAM) review and I had to test this new mast. I am so glad that I bought one. The endless applications is a super plus. Super lightweight and sturdy enough for some serious antennas setups! I am already planning my first camping trip and two to three setups that I want to deploy. The antenna is carbon fiber and yes carbon fiber is conductive but you can adjust and results are rewarding. Just my opinion and experience with three others that I own. I also have fiberglass but the manufacturing of the CHA is just way above anything else I have used. 73"

This took awhile but totally worth the weight (pun intended)

"This mast is simply awesome. I used it at Field Day and it deploys in about a minute! In this scenario, I used it to hold up the center of a OCF (CHA OCF4020) and could not be more happy with its performance. When compared to other 34’ CFM on the market, this one sets the standard for ruggedness and ease of deployment."

Very nice mast - great construction

"I was patiently waiting for a mast l like this to come back on the market. Works very well for my 8010 EFHW and I'm looking forward to other antennas. Thank you. It works great. My only wish/suggestion would be for the capability of adding other removable guy rings either higher and lower on the mast to suit more varied deployments."

Q&A

Spike Mount requirement: Install the CHA 34HD COLLAR whenever this mast is used on a CHA SPIKE MOUNT. The collar supports the mast shoulder and prevents the 3/8-24 stud from carrying the mast’s bending load. The collar is not required on CHA SURVEYOR-A; PORTA-MOUNT installations require the complete CHA 34HD REDUCER KIT.

Heavy-Duty Portable Carbon Fiber Mast

A 33 ft 7 in portable mast for supporting documented wire antennas and carefully controlled elevated Chameleon configurations where trees or permanent structures are unavailable.

Take your antenna higher

Build a temporary 33-foot antenna site where no tower exists

When a portable station needs real antenna height rather than a token support, the CHA CFM-34 HD becomes the structure that can change the entire deployment. It gives an operator more than 33 feet of telescoping carbon-fiber mast in a package that can still be transported, repositioned, and removed without installing a permanent tower. That makes it valuable for field operations, temporary base stations, emergency communications, RV sites, camps, and properties where trees or permanent antenna structures are unavailable or prohibited.

The mast extends to approximately 33 feet 7 inches, retracts to about 5 feet 7 1/2 inches, and carries a published load limit of 6 pounds when used within the guide's wind, height, mounting, and guying rules. A 3/8-24 base stud supports documented installation on the 21-inch CHA SPIKE MOUNT or a heavy-duty surveyor tripod using the CHA SURVEYOR-A. The mast can also be used with its protective base cap in appropriate installations. Guying is recommended or required when wind, antenna size, surface area, or the selected configuration demands it; the CHA UCM and jaw mounts are not approved bases for this mast.

The value becomes obvious when the mast is shown with actual antennas. Its guide documents paths for MPAS 2.0 and MPAS Lite wire configurations, CHA BV, CHA TD 2.0, CHA TDL, EMCOMM III PORTABLE, EMCOMM II V2, EMCOMM III BASE, CHA B3D, LEFS 8010, LEFS 4010 and its dipole options, OCF40, TACYAGI-70, SKYLOOP 2.0, AZ-1, and AZ-2/LD-3. Some vertical and loop configurations impose strict limits on how many mast sections may be extended and whether guying is mandatory, so the complete antenna guide and the CFM-34 HD compatibility table must control the final setup.

The guide also shows a compelling HOA application: a temporary 80-through-6-meter wire vertical using the CFM-34 HD, a 31-foot wire assembly, CHA URT-1 remote tuner, and CHA FSR artificial-ground system. The mast can be deployed where the property offers the best temporary operating position, then collapsed and removed when the session is over. That gives an HOA customer a path to meaningful height and an efficient temporary layout without committing to a visible permanent tower or accepting one poor fixed location.

Choose the CHA CFM-34 HD when height, load capability, and configuration range matter more than the smallest possible packed mast. It is not just a taller pole; it is reusable field infrastructure that can serve several documented Chameleon antennas, giving a new customer room to grow and an experienced operator more control over where and how the antenna is deployed.

Operator decision support

Plan the complete setup

See what this product is best suited for, what the documented setup needs, and the boundaries to confirm before deployment.

Best for

A perfect clearing without a usable tree is only a good antenna site if the operator brought a dependable way to create height.

What’s included
  • MAST
  • BASE COLLAR
  • BASE PROTECTIVE CAP
  • LOCKING CLAMP (PAIR)
What else you need

Select the approved base, sleeve, tripod, stake, or mount for the support and terrain.

Compatible with

All Chameleon portable wire antennas and MPAS READY antennas, subject to the product-specific extension and guying limits in the compatibility table

Limitations
  • Maximum antenna load: 6 lb (2.72 kg); reduce the load prudently for height, surface area, and wind
  • Do not use a Universal Clamp Mount (UCM) or Jaw Mount with the CHA CFM-34 HD
  • Keep the mast and attached antenna away from power lines and utility wires
Expansion options
  • Long Spike Mount
  • Surveyor Tripod Adapter

What an operator can do

  • Raise the feed point or center of documented wire antennas, dipoles, and end-fed systems.
  • Support one corner of a SKYLOOP 2.0 with each mast.
  • Deploy approved vertical systems at restricted mast heights when the required guying is installed.
  • Create a temporary field, HOA, POTA, EMCOMM, or expedition support structure without a permanent tower.

Approved bases and mounting

  • Ground: CHA 21-inch Long Spike Mount.
  • Surveyor tripod: heavy-duty surveyor tripod with CHA SURVEYOR-A.
  • CHA PORTA-MOUNT: Hitch, Side, Wheel, and Top mounts only when used with the approved CHA 3 IN SLEEVE kit.
Do not use: CHA UCM or CHA Jaw Mount. Stacking CFM-34 HD masts is not supported.

Compatibility and operating limits

  • MPAS 2.0 wire configurations: supported without mast-extension restrictions stated for the wire arrangement.
  • MPAS 2.0 MIL Whip + MIL EXT vertical: guy whenever any mast section is extended; extend no more than three sections, approximately 19 ft.
  • MPAS Lite / BV with SS17: guy whenever any section is extended; no more than three sections, approximately 19 ft.
  • SS25 vertical: always guy; no more than two sections, approximately 14 ft.
  • TDL: guy whenever any section is extended; no more than two sections, approximately 14 ft.
  • TD 2.0, EMCOMM II V2 / III Base, B3D 120/147: guying is recommended above three extended sections.
  • LEFS 8010 with 80 m extension: guy above three extended sections.

Carbon-fiber and field safety

  • Carbon fiber is electrically conductive. Isolate antenna wire from the mast to reduce coupling, detuning, pattern change, and loss.
  • Guy the mast whenever the antenna, extension height, surface area, or wind requires it; the 6 lb figure is not a blanket approval for every load.
  • Never deploy the mast or any antenna near power lines.
